A glass of hot mulled wine greeted everyone to the ‘Taste of Christmas’ evening held at the Lucy Plackett Activity Centre on Friday 16 November. Rob talked with knowledge and enthusiasm on the storage, preparation and cooking of meat. He then turned his attention to poultry. He prepared and tied a turkey, which drew a well-deserved round of applause. Rob readily answered questions raised by the audience. He proceeded to carve a cooked turkey which smelled wonderful and was delicious when eaten with a choice of stuffings. As will be seen from the photograph, Rob and Sally had prepared a fine selection of foods and cheeses which were appreciated by all who sampled them. In fact, many went back for second helpings!

Tim and Matthew from S H Jones were on hand to give advice and tastings on wine to accompany the differing foods. Joan of ‘Chocolate Confectionary’ did a brisk trade with her wide range of gifts and table decorations Marie from Katherine House Hospice had brought along a selection of Christmas cards, calendars and craft items.

North Aston Organics provided a box of seasonal vegetables which was donated as a raffle prize.

Thanks to everyone who made the evening so enjoyable. Our next event is a Fish and Chip Quiz Night on Saturday 26 January 2008.
