Tucked away in the corner of the Lucy Plackett Playing Field is a little building, the Lucy Plackett Activity Centre. It is well used and of great importance to members of the village.
Babies and Toddlers meet all-year-round on Monday and Wednesday mornings. This group, run by mums and carers, comprises babies from a few days old to pre-school children. The average number of attendees is 15 adults and 20 children. On Mondays, play is followed by a lunch club.
Fundango, a dance through play group, meets on Tuesday mornings during term time.
Also during term time, Guides meet on Monday evenings and Brownies on Thursday evenings.
A Martial Arts group meets on Tuesday evenings and Adderbury Morris Men meet on alternate Wednesday evenings
Most weekends the hall is hired out for children's parties.
Although the fabric of the building is the responsibility of the Parish Council, the Activity Centre Management Committee holds functions to raise much needed cash for the day-to-day running of the Centre.
As the Centre is well past its use-by-date, the Activity Centre Management Committee is in the process of information gathering, preparing a business plan and formulating a proposal for a modest replacement building. These plans have been put before the Parish Council and we await their decision
