This is the home page of the Adderbury, Deddington and District photographic society, and we are pleased to be part of the Adderbury web site and greater community.

The Society was formed in July 2006,  hopeful that there was a demand for a new kind of photographic society in this area.  That demand has manifested itself and the society is now well founded and prospering. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month at :
The Deddington Arms
Deddington

Commence 7.30pm

On the second Sunday thereafter in each month ( although this is not set in stone and has in the past been flexible to cater for specific photographic opportunities ) we undertake our field trips.

In the past l had some experience of conventional camera clubs, and whilst they undoubtedly fulfil a need, they were simply not to my taste.  I wanted to join with like-minded photographers in a group for whom competition was not the main focus; which welcomed all comers irrespective of experience or equipment; and which did not regard the technicalities of photography as the be-all and end-all of the subject.  It has transpired to be a group in which those with experience and knowledge gladly and enthusiastically pass it on to others The main focus (excuse the pun) is on getting out into the field as a group on a regular basis to take advantage of the photographic opportunities that abound.  We aim also to provide photographic opportunities that are not readily available to individuals.  To take one example, we would organise visits to locations like the British Wildlife Centre where we would be taken into compounds and find ourselves in privileged proximity to the animals.

Some of our members have strong local historical interests and like to assist them in the making of a photographic record of our area.  Others are interested in the architectural opportunities that abound here; others in flora and fauna; yet others in street photography.

A photographic society that is all about the actual joy of taking photographs.

Whilst photography can be a solitary experience, it is our aim to provide a genial social context in which to indulge our hobby.
